Gratitude Goes A Long Way

November 27, 2024

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I thought I’d  share some of my experiences in the events industry and why I believe gratitude can make all the difference in the success of your event.

It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and forget to appreciate the people who make it happen, but trust me, treating your event team with kindness and respect will take you a long way.

We’ve all been there – you have a vision for your event, but when it comes to execution, things don’t always go according to plan. Miscommunication happens, and sometimes expectations get a little out of whack. It’s frustrating, but it’s essential not to lose your cool.

I’ve seen it happen: event planners take out their frustrations on the team, and suddenly morale takes a nosedive. When your team feels unappreciated or disrespected, their willingness to go above and beyond for you may suffer, and that’s the last thing you want on show day.

So, what can you do to keep everyone happy and on the same page? Here are some tips that have worked for me:

  1. Recognize the crew’s skills: No one likes a micromanager. Let them know that you value their expertise and let them do their thing – it boosts their confidence and motivation. After all, you hired them to do a job- let them do it.
  2. Keep communication open: Encourage a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas and addressing concerns. There’s always more than one way to solve a problem, so if you can create an environment in which everyone feels valued and encouraged to share their ideas, the end result is often a better event.
  3. Show gratitude: Something as simple as saying thank you or offering a small token of appreciation can make a HUGE difference. Some clients even tip the crew, which isn’t necessary but always appreciated.

I’ve noticed that when I focus on the positive and practice gratitude, good things happen. Sure, sometimes life gets tough, but when I choose to see the glass half full, it’s like I’m attracting more positivity into my life. It’s pretty wild, and I’ve seen it make a difference in my events too.

At SEAS Productions, we know how crucial it is to show love and respect to our onsite teams. We’ve seen firsthand how a little appreciation can boost morale and lead to better results. Our team values open communication and making sure everyone feels heard and valued.

In the crazy world of event planning, being kind and grateful can go a long way. By fostering a culture of gratitude, you’ll build solid relationships with your crew and create unforgettable events.

Remember, the more positivity you put out there, the more you’ll get back. So spread the love and watch your events thrive!
